The importance of networking

networkingWill you know what to do when you meet someone who can help you along your career path or educational journey?

Networking can lead to information and job leads, often before a formal job description is created or a job is announced. It is a valuable skill to master, and when used appropriately, has lifelong benefits.

The thought of networking may make you nervous, but this does not need to be the case. You just need practice.

Career Services is hosting the networking etiquette workshop, “Connecting with High Impact,” with presenter Barbara Greene on Monday, September 15 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Storch Memorial Building Lobby.

Immediately put this new skill to work during Making Connections, a career-networking event with San Antonio alumni, on Thursday, September 18, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Skyline Bistro. The goal of Making Connections is to give alumni and students an opportunity to interact with each other and to explore career or graduate school opportunities in various fields of interest.

You will benefit from either session independently, but the sessions are the most powerful when taken together. Sign up for one or both of these opportunities in TigerJobs.
